San Diego Weekend.

We decided to take a last minute trip to San Diego on Saturday with our friends Jenna and Dustin. They went there to see if that's where they wanted to do residency for the next few years, and we decided we should probably tag along and give them our stamp of approval. After all, wherever they end up will be our vacation spot for the next 4 years, that's a big decision for us! ...Just kidding. Anyways, we ended up leaving for Saint Diego at 3am to ensure ivy would sleep the entire drive. Haha, Ivy's still laughing at us!

Some highs and lows of the 28 hour stay in San Diego include:

+over 15 hours spent in the car.
+seal watching at la jolla beach.
+speedo watching at la jolla beach.
+a magical place called the cheese shop.
+one speeding ticket.
+over 7 candy bars eaten between the two of us (still trying to decide if this is a high or low).
+dustin getting deathly sick.
+ivy getting deathly sick.
+3 trips made to a TWO STORY target!
+balboa park.
+a banksy sighting! (probably not).
+an alexis bledel sighting! (probably not).
+cute dogs everywhere.
+west elm.
+the check engine light going on in the first hour of the drive there.
+the roberts getting a flat tire.
+botanical gardens.
+getting 3 hours of sleep two nights in a row.
+and most importantly, spending time with the roberts before they leave.

Ivy fell asleep on the drive home mid-day yesterday and is still asleep. That's 20+ straight hours of sleeping and she's still going strong. You go girl! Thanks for letting us tag along Roberts, despite all the buzz-kills we had a lot of fun and are rooting for that beach house on la jolla. ;)

Although we got that coveted "two men and a baby on the beach" shot, we didn't get very great pictures, or group pictures for that matter. It's cool, I know my girl Jenna did.
What are we going to do without Jenna!?

So sorry about the sickness! But wow, 20+ hours is pretty great recovery plan!

I didn't know you snuck off to the beach this weekend! How fun, despite all that sickness! Hope the Roberts end up there for your sake....

Haha! The real question is- what are we going to do without the Langs? I started Lost after you left and I'm already on episode 7 (it's not lookin good...)

If we move here, you better live here with us during the summer months! Ivy will learn to like San Diego, I promise!

I think that's the saddest happy post I've read. Poor Ives.

we made that drive once from mesa to SD in the middle night as well. it was kind of a creepy drive. i felt like i was trippy out at one point (probably the lack of sleep!)

We're taking the family to the San Diego area this summer, and have rented a place on the beach. We don't have any SET plans, we want it to be relaxing. Are there any off the wall, must sees, BESIDES Sea World, Zoo? I know Lego Land is only 3 miles from the actual place we are staying. BTW, where is that building located with the painting on it on your blog?
Thanks

Gwen, that painting is on the side of a parking garage connected to a shopping mall in the gaslamp district of San Diego. (near the airport, downtown). I live in San Diego and park there everytime I want to go to my favorite hangout spot a block away. :)
