And then she was 8 months.

This past month has been a crazy one. Though it seems like Ivy has been sick for most of it, she still finds a way to charm us with those hilarious face expressions, constant babble, and her occasional dance moves that get us rolling. After 3 ear infections, one croupy hospital stay, two crazy-high fevers, a cough that could scare another Mom from a mile away, blistering diaper rashes, and two teeth born, I think we're done seeing her sick for a while (it's up to us...isn't it?).
Here's to a healthier month!

She's pulling some pretty tame faces here, but man does she turn into a cartoon character when she's really feeling it.

San Diego Weekend.

We decided to take a last minute trip to San Diego on Saturday with our friends Jenna and Dustin. They went there to see if that's where they wanted to do residency for the next few years, and we decided we should probably tag along and give them our stamp of approval. After all, wherever they end up will be our vacation spot for the next 4 years, that's a big decision for us! ...Just kidding. Anyways, we ended up leaving for Saint Diego at 3am to ensure ivy would sleep the entire drive. Haha, Ivy's still laughing at us!

Some highs and lows of the 28 hour stay in San Diego include:

+over 15 hours spent in the car.
+seal watching at la jolla beach.
+speedo watching at la jolla beach.
+a magical place called the cheese shop.
+one speeding ticket.
+over 7 candy bars eaten between the two of us (still trying to decide if this is a high or low).
+dustin getting deathly sick.
+ivy getting deathly sick.
+3 trips made to a TWO STORY target!
+balboa park.
+a banksy sighting! (probably not).
+an alexis bledel sighting! (probably not).
+cute dogs everywhere.
+west elm.
+the check engine light going on in the first hour of the drive there.
+the roberts getting a flat tire.
+botanical gardens.
+getting 3 hours of sleep two nights in a row.
+and most importantly, spending time with the roberts before they leave.

Ivy fell asleep on the drive home mid-day yesterday and is still asleep. That's 20+ straight hours of sleeping and she's still going strong. You go girl! Thanks for letting us tag along Roberts, despite all the buzz-kills we had a lot of fun and are rooting for that beach house on la jolla. ;)

Although we got that coveted "two men and a baby on the beach" shot, we didn't get very great pictures, or group pictures for that matter. It's cool, I know my girl Jenna did.
What are we going to do without Jenna!?

Beach Bod.

Geoff brought ivy out in one of her summer '11 bathing suits the other night because she was "in the mood for a swim in the sink". Check those thighs! That bod is BEACH ready..

Wouldn't that be crazy if an adult wore socks with a one piece bathing suit?

dress-obsessed.

These past couple weeks we've been able to photograph the most beautiful and unique brides! Check out their full bridals here, here, and here. I have a new love for wedding dresses and to be honest I'm kind of bummed you only get one chance to wear a wedding dress in your life. Don't blow it single ladies! Of course my obsession with wedding gowns sets in two years after I get hitched. C'mooon!

Don't be alarmed if you see me with a handful of dresses at some fancy bridal shop today,
i'm just pretending to be engaged.

movie spit up.

This is what we call "movie spit up". It's when ivy spits up like the babies do in the movies. The only qualification for her spit up to be considered "movie spit up" is that it has to land in your mouth and require a shower afterwards. We're considering getting the girl an agent.

Bringing in the New Year, as adults.

The Roberts hosted a last minute dinner party for New Years, and it was perfect! We ate great food, danced competitively, set off m-80s, and played trivia games all while ivy slept peacefully in the next room. Drinking cider from crystal made me feel super adult. I even made everyone go around and tell their favorite part about 2010 and their resolutions (I can do that cause I'm a Mom.) For a better documentation of the night, see the wonderful hostesses blog.
