When asked to participate in the “Look What I Found: New Mom Secrets” program for Boudreaux’s Butt Paste, I thought about the few “Mom Tricks” I’ve learned so far in my short two and a half years of being a parent. When trying to decide which “secret weapon” I wanted to share with you, I tried to think of something I used every day, something that showed quick results and something I couldn't live without.
I know the suspense is killing you but before I unveil, I have to give you some back story and take it back to 2011. Like a lot of choosy little ones, Ivy had a really hard time transitioning from milk to solids. I constantly worried about her nutritional needs that weren’t getting met, and mealtimes were always a frustrating battle I never won. She almost always spit out what we gave her, she would rarely ever touch her plate, and she would act super sensitive about different tastes and unfamiliar textures.
When my pediatrician suggested we take a little visit to a food therapist, I was all over it! I didn’t even know what a food therapist was at the time, but I was desperate and willing to try anything. In just the short hour we spent with the therapist -- eating pretzel sticks and rattling off a short list of the few foods that Ivy did eat, we were able to gain some really good pointers that have made mealtimes much less wearisome.
One tip the therapist shared with us (that I could kiss her on the mouth for!) was the power of a toothpick. Yes, a toothpick. I know it's silly, but when a frilly toothpick was involved, all the foods Ivy previously wanted nothing to do with suddenly became irresistible. Since then, we’ve stocked the house with frilly toothpicks, mini “princess” forks, and any other things we can find to make mealtimes more exciting. Ivy's “List of Approved Foods” has rapidly grown, she has become much more open-minded when it comes to trying new things, and best of all there have been fewer fits thrown at the dinner table.
Since there is probably no smooth way of transitioning from picky palates to diaper rash cream, I’m just going to go for it. Boudreaux's Butt Paste is another one of those "Secret Mom Weapons" I couldn't live without. I use it on my babies at least once a day and I'm always amazed at how quickly I see results. (Even if I didn't see results, I'd use it for the smell alone!) I rarely ever forget to apply it before bedtime because I know how well it comforts and protects sensitive little buns all throughout the night. It's thick and moisturizing, goes on smoothly, and a tube will last you forever. You can bet that as long as there are diapers in this house, there will be Boudreaux's. I firmly believe their brand motto, "A Boudreaux's butt is a happy butt" and think every Mom needs a Boudreaux's stash in her toolbox.
